2024 Wedding Photography Highlights and Behind-the-Scenes at Bohemia Bay Studio

2024 has been a year of profound changes, achievements, and personal growth for Brendan Creaser Photography. We photographed 35 weddings and filmed 9, an achievement I'm incredibly proud of, especially after scaling back from the 65 weddings of the previous year. With my children growing up, the desire to work fewer weekends became more pronounced, and this year has been about enjoying the craft without the pressure of high volume.

Wedding photography brings me immense joy. I love the craft and the lasting impact it has on couples' lives. Knowing that the photos I take will be cherished for a lifetime fills me with immense joy. As I explore new and exciting business ventures, I feel deeply settled within the wedding industry. I want to assure my current and future couples of this: I love weddings, and I adore the creativity that photography allows. Nearly ten years since my first wedding shoot, I feel I've come full circle. In 2025, I will shift my focus from the high-volume 'business' side of wedding photography. I no longer aspire to shoot 60+ weddings and exhaust myself. Instead, I'm thrilled by every enquiry and booking, valuing quality over quantity. My availability is now more considered and exclusive, ensuring that the weddings I choose to capture align perfectly with my creative passion and enjoyment.

A year of reflection

This year brought its share of challenges. Two miscarriages were among the most emotionally taxing experiences, teaching me about resilience in the face of personal loss. The wedding industry, while joyous, is not immune to life's trials, and these moments have underscored the important of focus, time, and support.

Social Media Success and Content Evolution

In 2024, my digital presence expanded significantly, with over 20,000 new Instagram followers, 10,000+ YouTube views, and thousands of new friends on TikTok . I've learned to create "top of funnel" content that resonates with a broad audience. Now, I'm shifting my focus towards "middle and bottom funnel" content, aiming to educate rather than sell. My goal is to be able to provide inspiring, and educational content for photographers and creatives in the wedding industry moving forward, while also creating space for personalised advice to those who need it.

The Backyard Studio Misadventure

Late in the year, I embarked on creating a backyard photography studio, an endeavour that unfortunately turned into an online scam. This was a financial and emotional blow, shaking my confidence in decision-making. It's a reminder that even in business, we must remain vigilant.

The Birth of Bohemia Bay Studio

Perhaps the most thrilling news of 2024 was the acquisition of Bohemia Bay Studio in October. Located in Cheltenham, this commercial photography studio is set to become a hub for creativity in Melbourne. It's a place where we offer studio rental, alongside creative service like product and e-commerce photography, fashion shoots, personal branding, and beauty business creative content. Working with three exceptionally talented photographers, I'm eager to see where this venture takes us in 2025.

Looking forward to 2025

My wedding photography business is now in a strong, sustainable place, allowing me to really enjoy the creative work and focus on quality not quantity. I'll continue to capture about 30 weddings next year with the books just about full. With Bohemia Bay Studio, my attention will pivot towards business growth, education and social media.
