2024 Wedding Photography Highlights and Behind-the-Scenes at Bohemia Bay Studio

2024 has been a year of profound changes, achievements, and personal growth for Brendan Creaser Photography. We photographed 35 weddings and filmed 9, an achievement I'm incredibly proud of, especially after scaling back from the 65 weddings of the previous year. With my children growing up, the desire to work fewer weekends became more pronounced, and this year has been about enjoying the craft without the pressure of high volume.

Wedding photography fills me with joy, and the craft's lasting impact on couples' lives is something I deeply cherish. After nearly a decade since my first wedding shoot, I've come full circle in my love for the industry, but my approach is evolving. In 2025, I'm excited to pivot towards nurturing a team of Melbourne wedding photographers as associates under the Brendan Creaser Photography brand. This shift allows me to reduce my personal workload from over 60 weddings a year, focusing on quality over quantity. I'm passionate about every inquiry and booking, ensuring that the weddings I personally photograph are those that resonate with my creative passion. This new direction means I can share my experience and love for wedding photography while creating opportunities for other talented photographers in Melbourne.

A year of reflection

This year brought its share of challenges. Two miscarriages were among the most emotionally taxing experiences, teaching me about resilience in the face of personal loss. The wedding industry, while joyous, is not immune to life's trials, and these moments have underscored the important of focus, time, and support.

Social Media Success and Content Evolution

In 2024, my digital presence expanded significantly, with over 20,000 new Instagram followers, 10,000+ YouTube views, and thousands of new friends on TikTok . I've learned to create "top of funnel" content that resonates with a broad audience. Now, I'm shifting my focus towards "middle and bottom funnel" content, aiming to educate rather than sell. My goal is to be able to provide inspiring, and educational content for photographers and creatives in the wedding industry moving forward, while also creating space for personalised advice to those who need it.

The Backyard Studio Misadventure

Late in the year, I embarked on creating a backyard photography studio, an endeavour that unfortunately turned into an online scam. This was a financial and emotional blow, shaking my confidence in decision-making. It's a reminder that even in business, we must remain vigilant.

The Birth of Bohemia Bay Studio

Perhaps the most thrilling news of 2024 was the acquisition of Bohemia Bay Studio in October. Located in Cheltenham, this commercial photography studio is set to become a hub for creativity in Melbourne. It's a place where we offer studio rental, alongside creative service like product and e-commerce photography, fashion shoots, personal branding, and beauty business creative content. Working with three exceptionally talented photographers, I'm eager to see where this venture takes us in 2025.

We will also expand our team of wedding photography associates, to open up more options for couples across Melbourne and beyond to have their day photographed and their memories preserved forever.
