My 9 Favourite Wedding Venues In Red Hill

Is this the best suburb in Victoria to have a wedding? I think so!

Mornington Peninsula has a huge amount of venues to satisfy even the most unique of requirements – and the wedding venues in Red Hill are some of the best! From beachfront locations to rustic churches straight out of a fairytale, you’ll never be lost for inspiration around here.

As a small suburb with a thriving local community, Red Hill retains a load of “old-timey” charm. It’s located directly in the hinterland of Mornington Peninsula which means most venues will be privy to stunning views across rolling hills, vineyards and farms.

Its location is perfect for those of you who want to hop around from winery to winery while tasting and drinking the very best of what this area has to offer. You can expect organic food to be abundant and menus to change based on the season and local produce.

So, let’s take a look at nine of my favourite and perhaps best wedding venues in Red Hill:

1. The Epicurean

If you’re looking for a venue that mixes old and new together whilst creating some of the greatest food on the peninsula, The Epicurean Red Hill wedding venue is definitely worth checking out. In 2008 it benefited from a restoration which, while improving the quality of life and aesthetic of the venue for guests, kept a lot of the old charm the building used to have.

High ceilings and exposed wood give this place sophisticated warehouse loft vibes, and I’m all about it. It’s also plenty big enough for most guest list sizes with a capacity for up to 220 people across both locations. They also have a pizza oven, and who doesn’t want that at their wedding?!

2. The Old Church Red Hill

Nestled among the ancient trees sits a very small wedding venue in Mornington Peninsula. It’s a place that’s perfect for those of you who are looking for a cosy and intimate wedding ceremony with just a few friends and family. That place is the 107-year-old historic landmark of The Old Church Red Hill.

In 2009 it was re-imagined by a local family, while still respecting the surroundings. So that means you get a place with modern amenities and quality-of-life upgrades while still oozing a rustic and authentic vibe.

You’ll only be able to book The Old Church Red Hill wedding venue for your ceremony which means finding another place for the reception. While it is sometimes nice to have the reception and ceremony in the same place, spreading them out is more adventurous and may allow you to get exactly what you want for each of them.

3. Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill

As one of the most traditionally beautiful-looking wedding venues on the peninsula, Lancemore Lindenderry at Red Hill will appeal to any of you looking to find a fairytale-style location for your big day. You’ll get big rustic sophistication vibes which are especially prevalent in spring and autumn. That said, it’s a stunning place to hold your wedding at any point in the year.

Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill has absolutely everything you’ll need for the wedding including bridal suites and on-site guest rooms. Your guests are bound to have a great time dancing with everyone long into the night and casually walking back! It means everyone can let their hair down a bit more, and that’s such a great thing to be able to do.

4. Butterfly Red Hill

Sometimes the best way to remember your day isn’t the biggest and most glamorous wedding, but instead the most quirky. Set over 4 acres in the middle of Red Hill, Butterfly Red Hill wedding venue goes big with its small hideaway-style vibes. It’s rustic, down to earth and a whole heap of fun for those of you who want to make lifelong memories with your family and friends.

In 2015 the place was given some much-needed TLC by its current owners which have now cemented its lasting presence among the Red Hill community. With corrugated iron and exposed wood set upon a backdrop of olive gardens, fields and fruit trees, it’s no wonder bohemian-style weddings are so popular here.

While this is one of the Red Hill wedding venues that doesn’t offer catering, one of the best things about it is the endless list of customisable extras. I’m talking about vintage boho chairs, massive light-up love signs and a 1968 barracuda for some absolutely epic Butterfly Red Hill photography. If you’re looking for a quirky wedding, this is the place to start!

5. 10 Minutes By Tractor

The fantastically named ‘10 Minutes By Tractor’ was originally started when three families who owned nearby (10 minutes away) vineyards merged them into one. That was in 1997 and since then they’ve been creating exceptional quality wines for people all across the world, especially in Australia.

Surprisingly, though they’re small they can still host weddings for up to 60 guests. They’ve also got a lawn for outdoor ceremonies to indulge in the rustic vibes it presents. Perfect for an authentic, down-to-earth wedding celebration!

6. Port Phillip Estate

With what might just be the most spectacular architectural building on the peninsula, the Port Phillip Estate wedding venue is the ideal choice for those of you looking for elegant Red Hill wedding venues. Designed by Wood / Marsh Architecture, the venue is surrounded by incredible views and world-class grapevines which all come together to make your day one to remember.

They have 6 luxury hotel rooms for you and a few guests, space for 125 people seated in the dining room, and a beautiful outdoor deck that provides those all-important views across the peninsula.

7. Max’s Restaurant At Red Hill Estate

Max’s Restaurant is in an ideal location, nestled among secluded vineyards with amazing views over Western Port Bay. There are also options for the warmer times of the year as well as the colder periods. Imagine yourselves eating canapes on the terrace as golden hour comes and goes with a spectacular dance of colours across the sky! If things get a bit chilly, they’ve got a fireplace to keep you cosy and help you continue enjoying your day and night.

The chef, Max Paganoni, has refined his craft since 1994 and bases his food on the seasons, local produce and fine wine pairings. You can happily relax while your world-class food is created – no stress worrying about outside caterers, just quality food 100% of the time.

8. Polperro

In a place that looks like it’s straight out of a storybook, Polperro Winery is the type of venue you go to when you want to feel like you’re the only couple on earth. Spectacular views over the vineyards, a canopy of ancient trees and a pristine lawn make the grounds of Polperro some of the best wedding venues in Red Hill Victoria. When the light hits the landscape during golden hour, there’s truly nothing else like it.

Most of their 25-acre property can also be seen through the dining room that’s filled with floor-to-ceiling windows. Inside that same dining room, you’ll find a truly charming, yet highly sophisticated table layout. Earthy tones, stunning flower bouquets and white table clothes fit perfectly in this room with a spectacular view.

9. Montalto

Last but by no means least, let’s talk about Montalto. It might be the latest venue on this list to be given an update, but it still retains a huge amount of old-school charm. With sweeping views across the hinterland, rolling hills and vineyards aplenty, this is a wedding venue that does incredibly well at fitting in with the countryside that surrounds it.

Though the best way to appreciate what this place has to offer is during your ceremony on the lawn, the indoor restaurant with dark wooden accents and floor-to-ceiling windows does a great job of bringing the outdoors inside.

Another feature of the Montalto wedding venue worth mentioning is the daily changing menu they offer. That means your wedding food options will be unique to you and your guests. Exactly what you want for a memorable occasion!

Mornington Peninsula has some of the best wedding venues in the world – which is a blessing but can also make your decision a bit more difficult! Red Hill is a wonderful place to start or perhaps to narrow down your choices if you’re finding it overwhelming.
